    McGrath, Alaska - Airport Ramp

McGrath is located 221 miles northwest of Anchorage and 269 miles southwest of Fairbanks.  The community functions as a transportation, communication and supply center for Interior Alaska. It is adjacent to the Kuskokwim River, directly south of its confluence with the Takotna River. This view is of the Airport Ramp area and points North-North-West.  Penair unloads near the small planes and Northern Air Cargo unloads directly in front of the camera.  The hills behind the airport are called "Blueberry Ridge" and the "Cloudy Mountains" are in the far background.  McGrath is also a checkpoint for the world famous Iditarod sled dog race.  We'll re-orient the cameras to capture the action when it happens.
